A four-year varsity squash player at Haverford, I have a deep understanding and love of sports. I grew up around baseball and have written more than my fair share of game stories, but have a passion for profile pieces and features. I love traveling, dark chocolate, tulips, Lilly Pulitzer and small dogs.

IJGA Alum Ben Dietrich Competing in Players Amateur
Hopefully the third time will be the charm for IJGA alum Ben Dietrich, who is currently competing in his third Players Amateur. The tournament, held July 9-12 at Berkeley Hall Golf Club, attracts many of the best amateur golfers in the country. The winner will receive an exemption into the 2016 RBC Heritage, a PGA TOUR event held in Hilton Head Island.

Franklin's passion produces 800 wins
Tenacity and talent have been two keys to Tony Franklin's success as a Minor League manager. In his 13th season as a skipper, he remains enthusiastic about his job, and that enthusiasm may be the real secret to his success. Franklin is at the helm of the Trenton Thunder, who he's led to back-to-back Eastern League championships. On June 2 against Bowie, he recorded his 800th win.

Squash is played by nearly 17 million people in 185 countries. Now is an exciting time in the sport’s history because it’s trying to get an Olympic bid. It failed to become an Olympic sport for Rio 2016, but now has its eyes set on being included in the 2020 Games. The campaign is called Back the Bid 2020.

To even be considered for a position as an umpire in affiliated professional baseball, one must first go to a professional umpire training school.

I wrote my first article--a profile piece on a super-fascinating teacher/artist-- for the local newspaper when I was 11 and have been hooked ever since. Everyone has a story and I love that being a journalist gives me the opportunity to both hear and tell so many interesting ones.

I've been writing about baseball since I was 16 and truly believe it is a metaphor for life. Although I have a master's in sports journalism, I'm slowly shifting more towards lifestyle pieces. I love to travel and--although I'm definitely a people person--usually enjoy exploring new cities on my own. I've recently developed a love of broadcast journalism because it adds another dimension to one's storytelling.
